Oil-and-Gas-Bearing Capacity

The licensed Block is located at the commisure of two oil-and-gas-bearing provinces: North-Caucasus-Mangyshlakskaya (oil-and gas-bearing region of Kerch-Taman trough) and East-Black Sea (oil-and-gas-bearing areas of North-West Caucasus, Shatskiy ridge and Tuapsinskiy trough).

Onshore regional oil-and-gas bearing complexes are Mezozoic-Cenozoic deposits.

Large-scaled oil and oil-and-gas fields (Anastasievsko-Troitskoye, Zybza-Glubokiy Yar, Akhtyrsko-Bugundyrskaya group of fields etc.) were discovered within Indolo-Kubanskiy trough.

Small gas fields (Doobskaya, Praskoveevskaya, Pschadskaya and Arkhipo-Osipovskaya areas) were discovered in Mezozoic deposits.

Oil-and-gas-source formations are represented by clayey and clayey-carbonaceous complexes of Upper Jurassic, Lower Cretaceous, Lower Palaeogene (Palaeocene- Eocene) and Maikop periods.

Organic matter catagenesis stage of Jurassic and Cretaceous rocks is evaluated as MK2-3, Palaeogene ones — MK2, Maikop ones — MK1-2.

Hydrocarbon migration is from Tuapse and Vostochno-Chernomorskiy troughs.

Main petroleum potential of the licensed block is connected with Miocene-Pleiocen terrigenous complex as well as with Upper Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous terrigenous-carbonaceous complex.

Reservoirs: fractured and reef limestones of Jurassic-Cretaceous, as well as Cretaceous terrigenous deposits.

Traps: massive, anticline and lithological types.

Caps: Neogene-Quarternary clayey strata.

At Subbotino area hydrocarbon inflow from Maikop deposits (25 km northwestward of the licensed block) proves prospects of the “North-West Black Sea Area”.

The structures revealed at the licensed block allows to expect hydrocarbon commercial discoveries.
